North Bench Harvest started because Amélie has an obsession with coffee that isn’t going away. Kyle got dragged in — and then got genuinely hooked. Once the idea had been percolating long enough to take seriously, the question became: why are we doing this, and who are we doing it for?
The answer: we roast because we care about the whole chain. The farmers who grow it. The land it comes from. The people who drink it. We source sustainable green coffee — from women-led farms whenever we can — and we prioritize high-elevation growing regions because that’s where the best coffee lives.
We also wanted Golden, BC to have a locally roasted option worth being proud of. Small town. High standards.
Behind the scenes: Kyle keeps everything running. Amélie does a bit of everything else, but her favourite job is cupping every coffee for quality. It’s just an excuse to drink more coffee.
One day we hope to bring some of what we grow in our garden to the farmers’ market too — which is where the name comes from. Stay tuned.
